This Week’s Speaker: Bill Griffin
Past District Governor
A native of the Adirondacks in upstate New York, Bill received his BS degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York and his Masters in Hospital Administration from The Ohio State University. Bill also served in the U.S. Air Force.
He has been a member of the executive team at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach since 1982. Prior to joining Halifax Medical Center, Bill was a hospital management consultant with Ernst & Young.
Bill is a member of the Daytona Beach West Rotary Club since 1997. He was previously a member of the Port Orange-South Daytona and Daytona Beach Oceanside Rotary Clubs.
Bill served as club president in 2002-2003.
Bill is a Major Donor, Paul Harris Society member and Bequest Society member. He has served on the District Youth Exchange Committee since 2004 and the Fund Committee beginning 2005. Bill also served as ADG from 2004 to 2006.
In addition to Rotary, Bill is Vice-Chair of the board of Hospice of Volusia/Flagler and Community and Board Chairman of Partnership for Children in Volusia/Flagler. He has served on several other community boards and task forces. He has been involved for several years as a coach in youth recreational leagues.
Bill is also a graduate of Leadership Daytona.
Bill and his wife Diane, also a Paul Harris Fellow, have been blessed with six children (Eric, Chris and Scott Roberts and Jim (wife Nikki), Matt and Ginger Griffin and two grandchildren (Jillian and Liam Griffin).
Bill and Diane enjoy traveling, reading and long distance motorcycling.

- The newspaper “The Residence” came out last week and spotlighted our Purple Pinky Project. Thanks to Jimmy Kelly for making this happen.
- There was a board meeting immediately after the meeting.

- John Hulsey and Leslie Jackson exchanged their red badges for blue.
- The club initiated Ed Lombard. Jimmy Kelly was Ed’s sponsor. Ed lives in Neptune beach and after visiting our club many times with Jimmy he knew our club was to be his club of choice. Ed received his pin and all of the Rotary information.
- Will Milne immediate past president of Rotaract mentioned that Rotaract has enrolled 11 new members and the future of Rotary is strong.
- President Marshall mentioned the Toys for Tots toy drive. We are collecting toys now for the Christmas party at the Florida Yacht Club on December 14th. You can bring an unwrapped gift to the Christmas party or to our weekly meetings.
- Jim Riggins needs help distributing the dictionaries to our schools. Please contact Jim if you can help.

Our beloved past secretary Fran Belongue passed away this week
Patti’s mother passed away this past week
President Marshall’s wife’s grandfather passed away
Jim Riggins’ wife Barbara is scheduled for breast cancer surgery next week

John McCorvey introduced our speaker and fellow Rotarian Doug Milne.
Doug presented his very interesting annual Thanksgiving history talk he put together well over 20 years ago, 1988. Phil Murphy recorded the presentation.
Doug’s dad was one of the founding members of our club.
